The complexities of the non-linear systems found in vintage valve amplifiers has resulted in a deep understanding of physical modelling in DSP and an unparalleled library of optimised audio DSP algorithms.
Audio Specific System on Modules
Blackstar offers two main audio-focussed System on Module (SOM) platforms. These are ARM Cortex based and fully integrated with our in house ‘drag and drop’ development system. The platforms are extremely robust having been used in tens of thousands of Blackstar products.
Blackstar Audio DSP Development Tools
Blackstar’s custom-designed programming tools allow for rapid prototyping of a huge array of processing blocks. Customers can either outsource sonic design to our development consultancy service or licence the development system for in-house development. The development system comprises of a large number of concurrent processing blocks, with unlimited routing and mixing options, all controllable via software or external hardware GPIO.

Blackstar has the exclusive licence to supply their custom DSP algorithms with the Super Speaker, delivering a groundbreaking consumer audio solution suitable for a wide range of audio applications. The Super Speaker is an ultra-thin, flat diaphragm design that owing to its unique dual voice-coil design, delivers various advantages including:

What is Cleartone™?
Cleartone™ is Blackstar’s proprietary suite of audio processing algorithms specifically designed for consumer AV applications. Cleartone™ elevates the listening experience in terms of dynamics, clarity and immersion – applicable to spoken word, sport, music or film.
